St. Vicent is an island of volcanic origin. The Soufriere volcano (1,234 m) last erupted in 1979. It is the largest and most populated island of the archipelago.

The other islands, the Grenadines, only occupy 44 square kilometers, and among them are Bequia, Canouan, Mustique, Mayreau, the Tobago Cays, Little St. Vicent, Battowia, Balicaeux, Palm Island, Prune and Union Island.
