Athens is the capital of Greece, the country's largest city and the cradle of Western Civilization. It has three and a half million inhabitants.
Athens is one of the richest cities in archaeological remains. The most famous is the temple of the Parthenon on the Acropolis, dedicated to the goddess Athena. Another important monument is the Temple of Olympian Zeus.
The Port Kalamaki is located on the south coast of Athens. It is the best starting point for sailing the Cyclades islands and the Saronic islands.
The Port of Lavrion is located close to Cape Sounion, where is the temple of Poseidon. It is 40 minutes by taxi from Athens airport. It is another starting point for the Cyclades islands and the Saronic islands.
The national and international airport is Eleftherios Venizelos. Greece has a strong network of airports with daily departures to its main islands of Crete, Milos, Syros, Kos, Skiathos, Paros, Rhodes, Corfu, Santorini.

Lavrion enjoys a temperate Mediterranean climate.
