Split - Dubrovnik (7 days - 154,50 NM)

Split is one of the most amazing cities in Croatia. Not only does it boast a strong historical heritage (the old quarter was declared a World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1979) but its streets are full of life at all hours, especially in the port area. And it’s here in the port of Split where our particular sea adventure will begin. If we’ve chartered a boat with crew, a team of professionals will take care of everything once we’re aboard, and all we have to do is relax and marvel at the beauty of the islands in the Adriatic Sea. If you have a license to sail a boat on your own, just check in and then you’re off.

The first part of our trip cruising aboard a sailing boat, yacht, gulet or catamaran will take us to Milna, a typical fishing village located in a deep bay of the same name on Brac Island. This island is known for its beautiful and calm beaches among which Zlatni Rat Beach, also called the Golden Horn, stands out for its peculiar shape that changes with the tides. The stone mines are also famous as the stones to build Diocletian's Palace in Split and the White House in Washington were taken from here.

Vis Island is a land of fishermen and people of the sea where summer crowds and large hotel complexes have yet to take over. This authentic paradise of relaxation and calm has natural pebble beaches, clear waters and spectacular underwater caves. Although to visit the most famous cave, the Blue Cave (Modra Spilja), we will have to go to the neighbouring island of Bisevo. An ideal time to go is at midday when the sea is calm. The rays from the sun reflect off the white rocks on the sea bottom, casting a shade of iridescent blue inside of the cave that will leave us speechless. The natural mouth of the cave is only 1 meter and a half high and at least 2 meters wide so we have to enter with the auxiliary boat of our boat charter.

On our way to Hvar Island, you can enjoy your breakfast while you listen to the soothing sounds of the waves, read that book you're hooked on or soak in some rays. At lunch time we will anchor in front of the coast of Scedro Island so you can work up an appetite swimming, scuba diving or doing any other water sport you like. The on-board chef will take care of the food so everything will be ready when you get out of the water. In the afternoon, the skipper will moor the yacht charter (or the type of boat you chose for your holiday) in the port of Hvar, in a peaceful bay. Our crew will take you to visit this beautiful city, famous for high-end tourism and a lively nightlife. After sampling some specialties from Croatian cuisine for dinner, we can have a drink in Club Carpe Diem, one of the most popular nighttime destinations along the coast.

Before heading to the port of Korcula, we will anchor the sailing boat or catamaran charter for a couple of hours in front of the small island of Badija, in the centre of the Korcula Archipelago. We can enjoy a nice swim and have lunch in a spectacular setting among clusters of beautiful islands. In the afternoon, we will arrive in the marina of Korcula, one of the liveliest cities on the Croatian coast. The old quarter of Korcula is very well preserved and is dominated by an old Venetian fort. Around the fort, there is a wide variety of restaurants where we can enjoy fish and pasta dishes for dinner accompanied by a glass of white wine elaborated right on the island, while enjoying views of the port.

After five days of cruising in a gulet from island to island, we will return to the continent, specifically to the small town of Ston located on the Peljesac Peninsula about 60 kilometres from Dubrovnik. You will be amazed by its 5.5 km long walls, the longest in Europe. They were constructed in 1333 when Ston belonged to the Republic of Dubrovnik and was an important producer of salt. Today in the outskirts of town you can still visit the salt mines where you will enjoy spectacular sunsets. Ston is famous for having the best fish and oysters in Croatia. There are various restaurants where you can taste for yourself and see that it is definitely worthy of this fame.

Can you believe that a week has already gone by? When we’re cruising in a sailing boat or catamaran, it’s easy to lose track of time, isn’t it? But yes, we've come to the end of our itinerary and Dubrovnik, one of the most appealing and famous cities in the Mediterranean, unfolds before our eyes. Known as the Pearl of the Adriatic, the city is surrounded by white stone walls that disappear into the sea. You can enjoy impressive views as you stroll along the walls through the old quarter. After a few hours in Dubrovnik, you will not have had enough and that’s why we recommend staying a few days in the city after disembarking so you can enjoy excursions in the surrounding areas. There couldn’t be a better ending to this dream holiday.
