Roses is a typical Mediterranean town, with a notable history of tourism and fishing. Situated in unique natural surroundings, to the north of the Costa Brava, it measures 30km from the French border,65km from Girona, and 160km from Barcelona.
Its beginnings go back to the VIII century with the arrival of the Rhodeans, and the founding of the Greek city of Rhodes. Roses beguiles with its sunsets, for the friendly ways and the hospitality of its inhabitants, for its historic heritage, its tourist offer, both gastronomic and sporting, for the professionalism of its service offer, and for the infinite entertainment and leisure options at the service of the visitor.
The Roses kitchen is characterised by its wide variety of Mediterranean specialities, the star of which is the fish suquet, the real culinary essence of this fishing people.

To drive a kart, enjoy a day in the aquatic park, play a round of mini-golf, sail aboard the boats that make excursions to the Cape of Creus, or take a trip in the tourist train; these are only a few of the possibilities which Roses proposes with which to pass your free time. Nevertheless, it is a must for all who visit Roses. In 1961 the Citadel, combining as it does remains of different époques and occupations, was declared a historic-artistic monument.

The nautical port was inaugurated on the 23rd of June 2004 culminating the reformation plans for the Roses seafront, a further and very important step towards placing Roses in the centre of the Costa Brava’s tourism offer. Lovers of sports sailing can enjoy their stay in the port due to its perfect integration in the urban environment, its up to date services and installations, plus the traditional tourist attractions. The Sports Port lies to the north of the Fishing port, opening to the sea and neatly fitted into the municipality’s urban space.
